Why Did We Start This Company?
Our previous company scheduled medical students, specifically international medical students and graduates for clinical placements.
But, in August 2014, we had a nurse practitioner call us from Lawrenceville, GA which is about 20 minutes north of the city.
This student was crying.
She was from Walden University, and it was her second-to-last clinical rotation, where she needed a Pediatric placement for 144 hours. For us to understand what that meant we figured she needed about eight weeks of a Pediatric rotation.
To be honest, once we were able to understand exactly what she needed, it was actually a really simple request for us. We were able to turn around her paperwork and get her set up with a clinical site with reporting instructions to start the next week, within three hours.
I’m not kidding you, it took us three hours. [Much more luck than skill]
We had a conversation with the preceptor, letting them know what the student required, the number of days and hours she could rotate, and it was done!
We can help you in Atlanta, Georgia, Chicago, Illinois, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, and even in parts of Florida. We have preceptors, both MDs and nurse practitioners in all these cities, and we’re expanding out to the West Coast, as well.
Right now, we have close to 150 preceptors in our entire network, and we’re looking to add another 50 more by June, 2017.
We had no idea that there was such a big need for nurse practitioners and helping them secure clinical rotations. After helping the student in 2014, we found out, months later, that students actually get left behind a year and they can’t graduate because they can’t find clinical placements.
It’s absurd that right now there’s a glaring issue with primary care in the United States, and then we have nurse practitioners who are topnotch students, who have been nurses for 5, 10, 15 years, not graduate on time.
Here’s the worst part: It SHOULD NOT be your responsibility to find these clinical placements. It’s your university’s job.
This is why we started Nurse Practitioner Clinical Rotations. The current process isn’t fair to Nurse Practitioner students. It’s the universities that need to start taking on the responsibility of helping you all. Our vision is that in the next 10 years, NP programs will provide their students clinical placements.Right now, we have close to 150 preceptors in our entire network. -Krish Click To Tweet
